The European Commission is considering the possibility of lifting the bans on imports of Ukrainian grain. The EU Commission is contemplating legal action against Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary for not lifting their ban on the import of Ukrainian grain. In Brussels, it is emphasized that the embargo lost its basis, as there is a new trade agreement between the EU and Ukraine.

EU Commission spokesperson Olof Gill stated that the situation in the market has stabilized, so further import restrictions 'make no sense'. Before filing a lawsuit, Brussels plans to conduct negotiations with the governments of the countries, but, according to sources, 'the Commission's patience is wearing thin.'

Poland believes that the embargo was necessary to protect the domestic market. In Warsaw, it is claimed that the much cheaper grain from Ukraine has caused a crisis among farmers, and the prices of wheat and corn remain lower than before the borders were opened.

The European Commission is considering the possibility of lifting the bans on imports of Ukrainian grain due to market stabilization and a new trade agreement between the EU and Ukraine. Poland justifies the need for an embargo as a protection of the domestic market from cheap grain from Ukraine, but Brussels is preparing for decisive action on this issue.
