Former world boxing champion Ricky Hatton has been found dead in his home in Greater Manchester. According to «Glavkom», the tragic news is reported by the Manchester Evening News.

The information has been confirmed by local police. They do not consider the death of the 46-year-old Briton to be violent or suspicious.

The fate of the former champion and his struggles

Hatton was a world champion in the IBF, WBA, and IBO versions in the light welterweight class, holding the IBO and WBA titles in the welterweight category.

Throughout his career, Ricky fought 48 professional bouts, winning 45 (32 by knockout) and suffering three losses, including to Ukrainian Vyacheslav Senchenko in his last fight in November 2012.

Earlier, Hatton spoke about his mental health issues and drug addiction. He survived suicide attempts, after which he began to work on his mental health.

Losses for the sports world

On December 2, the Brit was set to fight his 46-year-old opponent Al Dakh in Dubai. Ricky last stepped into the ring in November 2012, when he lost by technical knockout to Vyacheslav Senchenko.

The boxing world also suffered an irreparable loss: legendary trainer Tommy Brooks, who worked with stars like Evander Holyfield, Mike Tyson, and the Klitschko brothers, passed away after a prolonged battle with cancer. He was 71 years old.
