Power Restored to 100,000 Kyiv Residents as Emergency Blackouts End
Emergency Blackouts Lifted in Kyiv
According to Главком: On February 4, 2026, emergency power outages were terminated in Kyiv's Dnipro and Darnytskyi districts. Electricity was restored to 100,000 customers on the capital's left bank, following a recent attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. The overnight assault had left consumers in several Ukrainian regions without power.
As of the morning of February 4, consumers in the following regions remained without electricity:
- Sumy Oblast
- Donetsk Oblast
- Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
- Kherson Oblast
- Zaporizhzhia Oblast
Additionally, adverse weather conditions left 16 settlements in Odesa Oblast without power. Ukrenergo, the national energy company, also recorded an increase in electricity consumption, indicating a gradual restoration of the power supply across the grid.
Challenges in Restoring Energy Infrastructure
While the power supply situation remains difficult in some regions, the restoration allows thousands of Kyiv residents to return to a normal rhythm of life. This ongoing conflict has seen Ukraine's energy system become a repeated target, requiring constant repair efforts.
The return of electricity for residents of these Kyiv districts signals progress in repairing the energy infrastructure after attacks. However, the ongoing outages in other regions highlight the continued challenges the country faces under persistent security threats. It remains critical that restoration efforts continue and that proper monitoring and management of electricity consumption are maintained to meet rising demand.
