According to Главком: Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has officially confirmed the country’s return to the Formula 1 calendar, stating that the Turkish Grand Prix will be reinstated starting in 2027. The nation has previously hosted nine Formula 1 races: seven between 2005 and 2011, and two more during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021. The Istanbul Park circuit-famous for its challenging Turn 8-is set to host five seasons of racing from 2027 through 2031.
Erdogan highlighted Formula 1 as one of the world’s premier sporting events, praising its global scale, strong youth following, and leadership in automotive technology. He emphasized that Formula 1 enjoys massive popularity across all age groups in Turkey, especially among younger fans. 'The races reach nearly 19 million people, and about 7.5 million actively follow them on social media,' the president remarked.
