Mail Scammers Have Intensified in Ukraine
According to hvylya.net: According to the State Special Communications Service, there has been an increase in cases of fraud through postal deliveries in Ukraine. Scammers attempt to send Ukrainians fake winnings and low-quality goods that require payment upon receipt.
Common fraudulent schemes include receiving fake winnings that require payment for delivery, as well as sending cheap goods for which they demand significantly more than their actual value.
Fake Winnings - Scammers send messages about winning money (often around 2000 hryvnias), but to receive the 'prize', one must first pay around 1000 hryvnias for delivery. Instead of money, useless souvenir banknotes are found in the package.
Sending Goods - You receive a package with a cheap item (for example, household chemicals) that you never ordered. However, payment for this item and its delivery is demanded, amounting to several hundred hryvnias, although its real cost is significantly lower.
How to Protect Yourself from Fraud
- Do not pay for packages you did not order
- Confirm the sender's information
- If you have even the slightest doubts, it is better to refuse the package
It was also previously reported about scammers attempting to create a 'monetary reform'.
