National Project "Experience Matters"

According to Мін. Економіки: Ukraine is running a nationwide initiative called "Experience Matters," designed to support people aged 50 and older. As part of the project, a video series titled "Fast Career Meetings 50+" was created, giving employers a platform to talk about what they look for in candidates and how job seekers can improve their chances. The consistent message across these videos is that age alone should not decide whether someone gets hired; what really matters are skills, experience, motivation, and a willingness to learn.

Opportunities for People Aged 50+

The "Experience Matters" project gives people over 50 the chance to refresh their skills, take courses, talk directly with employers, complete internships, and find a job. Those interested can submit an application through the State Employment Service website.

The "Fast Career Meetings 50+" component is implemented by the Ministry of Economy and Environment of Ukraine and the State Employment Center, with support from partners including:

  • Charitable Foundation "Life Lover"
  • Astarta-Kyiv agro-industrial holding
  • Federation of Employers of Ukraine

Funding comes from the European Union, Germany, Poland, Estonia, and Denmark under the Multi-Donor Initiative Skills4Recovery. The initiative is carried out by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and Solidarity Fund PL (SFPL). It is also part of the implementation of the National Barrier-Free Strategy for 2026.

This effort is an important step toward helping people aged 50+ remain active in both society and the labor market. It aims to break down age-related barriers and open up new paths for learning and growth. With support from international partners, the program can not only improve participants' economic prospects but also challenge outdated stereotypes about older workers. For English-speaking readers following Ukraine's recovery, this is a clear example of how inclusive hiring is becoming part of the country's rebuilding agenda.
