Fictitious marriage to avoid mobilization: a verdict was issued in Dnipro
In Dnipro, a man who entered into a fictitious marriage with a woman with a disability of the II group was sentenced to two years probation. The verdict was issued by the Chechelivskyi District Court of Dnipro. The man got married to avoid mobilization and obtained a deferment just a month after the marriage was concluded.
“I knew the woman, was aware of her condition, and married her to avoid going to the army. There was no relationship between us,” the man confessed.
The court found him guilty under Article 336 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and initially imposed a sentence of four years imprisonment. However, the decision was later changed to two years probation.
The pace of mobilization in Ukraine remains unchanged
President Volodymyr Zelensky during a meeting with journalists stated that the pace of mobilization in Ukraine remains stable and does not differ from the figures of the past six months. Moreover, new grounds for deferment have appeared in the 'Reserve+' application, including persons with temporary unfitness for military service according to the results of the Military Medical Commission and parents of minor children if their spouse serves in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The man sentenced to probation in Dnipro successfully evaded military service by entering into a fictitious marriage with a disabled person. At the same time, President Zelensky confirmed the stable pace of mobilization in Ukraine and the introduction of new grounds for obtaining a deferment from conscription.
