Gavi announced support for immunization in Ukraine

According to Міністерство Здоров'я: Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, announced the allocation of $10 million for the immunization program in Ukraine in 2026. This initiative will also include the supply of 510,000 doses of vaccines, which will significantly support the country's healthcare system. An important aspect of this program is routine vaccination, as well as the introduction of the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, which will be added to the national vaccination calendar.

In 2025, Ukraine already received over 2.7 million doses of vaccines, allowing nearly 2 million vaccinations for children. With new measures starting in 2026, the national vaccination calendar will include vaccinations against 11 infections, including:

  • tuberculosis
  • hepatitis B
  • measles
  • epidemic parotitis
  • rubella
  • diphtheria
  • tetanus
  • whooping cough
  • polio
  • Hib infection
  • HPV
Viktor Lyashko, the Minister of Health of Ukraine, stated: 'We are ensuring sustainable access to necessary vaccinations both in vaccination rooms in medical institutions and during the outings of mobile teams to communities across the country. Despite all challenges, we continue to strengthen the immunization system, expanding capabilities and partnerships.'

This support from Gavi will be an important step in improving the health of the population of Ukraine and increasing the level of immunization among children.

The Importance of International Cooperation

This Gavi initiative underscores the importance of international cooperation in the field of healthcare, especially in the face of challenges that Ukraine faces. Ensuring vaccines and supporting immunization will not only improve the overall health of the population but also reduce the risks of spreading infectious diseases. Given the global pandemic situation, such steps become especially relevant for ensuring the stability of the country's healthcare system.
