Goal.com issued an apology to Mudryk: why the British publication apologized
The British publication Goal.com apologized to Chelsea footballer and Ukraine national team player Mykhailo Mudryk for an article published on September 19 that contained false information. The article discussed the possibility of Mudryk transitioning to athletics and participating in the 2028 Olympics due to a 'doping ban'.
Recall that Mykhailo Mudryk faces a lengthy disqualification for doping use. Allegations of violating anti-doping rules were made back in 2024 after a positive test for a banned substance. In December, Mudryk was temporarily suspended from football while awaiting the results of an additional test.
'We acknowledge that the publication was false and caused harm. We sincerely apologize to Mykhailo Mudryk for the stress and reputational damage. The article has been removed', - Goal.com stated.
It is noteworthy that the details of the case have not yet been disclosed, as the investigation is ongoing. Mykhailo Mudryk claims that he has never taken doping and is cooperating with the sports club in the investigation.
