The Death of Medic Inga Sokolovska: How the Heroine from Aidar Died
The Story of Brave Medic Inga Sokolovska
According to Міністерство Здоров'я: Inga Sokolovska is a nurse who voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine twice, saving the wounded and providing medical assistance to civilians during Russian attacks. Her story is just one of hundreds of stories of Ukrainian medics who gave their lives for the independence of their homeland.
Inga was born on October 2, 1970, in the city of Apostolove in the Dnipropetrovsk region. After school, she entered a medical college in Nikopol and graduated from the University of Economics and Management. She worked in hospitals in Apostolove and Lysychansk in the Luhansk region. In 2015, she joined the Aidar battalion and served as a sanitary instructor.
After her contract ended, Inga returned to civilian medicine, but in 2022, she rejoined the Aidar battalion and helped the wounded near the city of Bakhmut. On August 19, 2022, during the evacuation of the wounded, she died during an artillery shelling. Her memory will remain in the hearts of her colleagues and soldiers who remember her words: 'Who, if not me?'
The woman received injuries incompatible with life and, unfortunately, died.
