Inflation in Ukraine has accelerated again: why cheaper products did not stop price increases

Price increases for food and clothing
Ціни в Україні знову злетіли: чому подешевшання товарів не спинило зростання вартості.

Inflation in Ukraine continues to rise even as some products have become slightly cheaper. According to data from the State Statistics Service, prices in the country are increasing for non-food goods and services, offsetting the decrease in food prices.

“In September, food became 1% cheaper, but the overall price increase in the country was 0.3%,” explained Yuriy Luplenko, acting director of the National Scientific Center 'Institute of Agricultural Economics.'

According to Luplenko, the main reasons for the price rise are the increasing costs of clothing, footwear, education, alcoholic beverages, and other goods and services. The coming months are also expected to continue this process, but possibly at a slower pace than before. Inflation in September this year turned out to be lower than in previous years.

Conclusion

Despite the decline in the prices of some products, the overall price level in Ukraine continues to rise due to the increasing prices of other goods and services. Inflation, although slowed down in September, remains a relevant problem for the country.
