Ukraine Simplifies Document Procedures for Foreign Military Personnel
Updated Regulations for Foreign Service Members in Ukraine
According to МВС: Ukraine's Interior Minister, Ihor Klymenko, has announced revised rules governing the stay and paperwork for foreign nationals serving in the country's military. A government resolution, drafted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, now outlines the process for obtaining temporary residence permits for those enlisted in the National Guard, Armed Forces, or State Special Transport Service.
'Through a government resolution developed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, we have updated the regulations for the stay and documentation of foreigners who have joined Ukraine's defense or plan to do so,' stated Ihor Klymenko.
For individuals intending to sign a contract, the new rules allow them to legally remain in Ukraine even if their documents have expired or cannot be renewed due to objective reasons-for example, when renewal would require contacting the aggressor state.
Key Changes and Their Implications
Additionally, the minister noted that the requirement for foreign military personnel to declare their place of residence has been eliminated.
'After all, their address today is wherever they are carrying out combat missions,' he added.
'Supporting those who stand shoulder-to-shoulder with us in defending Ukraine is both our duty and our responsibility,' Klymenko concluded.
These regulatory updates reflect Ukraine's growing reliance on international partners amid its war effort. By adapting legal frameworks to the realities of the ongoing conflict, the government aims to streamline the integration of foreign fighters into its defense forces.
- Strengthening the country's defense capabilities
- Creating more favorable conditions for those wishing to support Ukraine during this challenging period
