Prices for borscht ingredients have fallen: what became cheaper this autumn
The price of vegetables for borscht has changed slightly this autumn, reports analyst Maksym Hopko. Potatoes have become cheaper, while onion prices have increased.
The expert explains that this year's vegetable harvest was better due to favorable weather conditions compared to last year. Vegetable production was distributed across different regions due to losses in southern areas during the war. Climate changes have also allowed for the cultivation of crops that were previously not characteristic of certain regions.
“In recent weeks, potatoes have become a little cheaper — at the end of October they were sold for 10 to 12 hryvnias per kilogram”
According to the analyst, prices for white cabbage have dropped and remain stable as long as there is a sufficient harvest. Prices for carrots and beets are generally stable, while onions have become more expensive this season.
As a result of favorable weather conditions, prices for borscht vegetables have undergone minor changes this year. Potatoes have become cheaper, while onions have become more expensive, while prices for other vegetables remain stable. Thanks to a better harvest and distribution of production, buyers will be able to enjoy delicious borscht at more affordable prices this autumn.
