Kyiv residents will not receive 40 new trolleybuses: Kyivpastrans canceled the tender
Kyiv residents will not see new trolleybuses on the streets for now. The municipal enterprise «Kyivpastrans» canceled the tender for the purchase of 40 low-floor trolleybuses worth over 1 billion UAH (25.2 million UAH per unit). This information appeared in the Prozorro system. More details about the reasons for the decision were reported by Liga.net.
Why the tender for 40 new trolleybuses for Kyiv was canceled
According to the cancellation protocol, on October 10, the head of the rolling stock maintenance and transport infrastructure service reported the need to make changes to the technical requirements of the tender documentation, which will affect the expected cost of procurement. Due to the features of Prozorro, it is impossible to change the amount during the bidding process, so Kyivpastrans had to completely halt the procedure.
The publication «Passenger Transport» notes that the initial price of the Kyiv tender was 20–25% higher than in similar tenders for trolleybuses with autonomous movement in Mykolaiv, Kremenchuk, or Ivano-Frankivsk. This could have been another reason for revising the conditions.
How many trolleybuses are in operation in Kyiv in 2025
Currently, between 240 and 255 trolleybuses operate daily on the routes in the capital, including:
-
142 two-section models «Bogdan-T901»;
-
115 single «Bogdan-T701».
A decision on new procurement may be made after reviewing the technical requirements and the cost of rolling stock.
