Heating Returns to Kyiv: 1,500 Buildings Reconnected Following Infrastructure Attack
Kyiv Makes Progress Restoring Heat After Infrastructure Attack
According to Главком: Kyiv is continuing round-the-clock efforts to restore its district heating system following a major attack on the city's infrastructure on February 12. As of the morning of February 14, heating has been successfully restored to 1,500 out of the 2,600 apartment buildings that were left without heat. In the last 24 hours alone, heat was returned to an additional 1,100 multi-story buildings.
To support the restoration process, the European Union has delivered an additional 323 generators to the city. In total, Kyiv has now received 500 autonomous power sources from the EU. This critical technical assistance package includes:
- 438 units with a capacity of 20 kW;
- 62 units with a capacity of 22 kW.
An initial batch of 177 devices has already been deployed and aided in the restoration of heating services. The latest shipment of generators is primarily intended to power individual heating substations in residential buildings, which are vital for the centralized system.
Over the past day, we have restored heating to another 1,100 apartment buildings. This means heat has now been returned to 1,500 buildings that were left without supply due to the enemy's attack on Kyiv's infrastructure on February 12.
