Kyiv Water Utility Denies False Rumor of Water Supply Schedules
Kyivvodokanal Refutes False Claims
According to Главком: Kyivvodokanal, the city's water utility, has denied false information circulating on anonymous Telegram channels regarding the implementation of scheduled water supply. The company confirmed that no such schedules are currently in effect. As of the evening of January 20, water supply in Kyiv has been fully restored following an interruption caused by a Russian attack.
The false claims spreading on social media lack any links to official Kyivvodokanal or city government resources. Notably, these posts are often marked as 'Advertisements.' The utility's official channels have not confirmed any information about water supply schedules.
State of the Energy System
Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal has noted a tense situation in the national power grid, while emergency power outages continue in Kyiv. Energy sector workers are developing technical solutions to move from emergency outages to predictable schedules. Kyivvodokanal has stressed that reliable information is published only on its official website and Facebook page.
“This is typical clickbait,” stated company representatives.
The water supply situation in Kyiv is critical against the backdrop of severe strain on Ukraine's energy infrastructure due to ongoing attacks. Official statements from Kyivvodokanal emphasize the need to verify information before trusting rumors, which can negatively sway public opinion and cause panic. The prevalence of fake news and disguised advertising on social media poses a serious challenge for state agencies communicating with the public. This incident highlights the ongoing information warfare accompanying the physical conflict in Ukraine.
