Strike on Zaporizhzhia: Updated Casualty Figures
According to Главком: According to the State Emergency Service (SES) and the publication 'Glavkom', the number of people injured in a Russian attack on Zaporizhzhia has increased to 24, including five children. Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported that at the public transport stop where the first strike occurred, 23 people were wounded. Later that evening, the enemy launched another attack on the city, leaving a 52-year-old man with shrapnel wounds to his legs.
Infrastructure Damage and Humanitarian Response
A nine-story residential building was damaged, though preliminary reports indicate no casualties there. Damage to railway infrastructure has also been recorded. Currently, 12 people-four of them children-are hospitalized. SES psychologists have provided assistance to 24 citizens, including three children. Earlier that day, Russian forces targeted a public transport stop in a residential district of Zaporizhzhia, killing two women. Initial reports had mentioned 15 injured.
For context, on June 7, occupying forces struck the suburb of Balabyne near Zaporizhzhia. The death toll there has since risen to three. Earlier in June, a Russian drone attacked firefighters as they were extinguishing a blaze at a gas station in Zaporizhzhia, with a projectile hitting the fire truck directly.
“Russia proves once again: its target is peaceful Ukrainians,” emphasized Dmytro Lubinets.
These events in Zaporizhzhia highlight the ongoing aggression by Russian forces, which continues to endanger civilians. The strike on a public transport stop, resulting in numerous casualties, demonstrates a deliberate attack on peaceful Ukrainians, sparking renewed outrage and condemnation from the international community. Against the backdrop of escalating tensions on the front lines, such incidents underscore the urgent need to strengthen civilian protection and ensure safety in conflict zones.
