Kyiv's Cultural Events from April 12 to 19

According to Главком: Residents and visitors to the Ukrainian capital can look forward to a diverse lineup of cultural events from April 12 to 19. The schedule includes art exhibitions, theatrical performances, concerts, and stand-up comedy shows, offering something for every taste.

Exhibitions

The 'Beads of Fate' art project is on display at the Museum of Theatre, Music and Cinema of Ukraine (Lavrska Street, 9, building 26). This collective exhibition, featuring over 60 participants, will run until April 25. It showcases works by painters including Valeriy Franchuk, Ellen Oro, Alla Osadcha, Olena Pohrebnyak, Helen Kalm, Ivanka Moskovka, and Valentyna Papina. Also featured are beadwork masters Natalia Cherednichenko, Tamara Kvas, Iryna Dyachenko, and Tetiana Hulidova, as well as original collages by Kseniia Turenko, Natalia Liubinetska, and Inna Mokrytska.

A major retrospective, 'I Shook This World,' celebrates the 90th anniversary of renowned artist Ivan Marchuk. Hosted at the Museum of the History of Kyiv's Exhibition Center (Bohdana Khmelnytskoho Street, 7), it runs from March 13 to May 17, 2026, displaying nearly 250 works from an artist who has created over five thousand pieces.

Meanwhile, the 'Ukrainian Pysanka: Origins and Modernity' exhibition continues at the National Museum of History of Ukraine (Volodymyrska Street, 2) until April 17, 2026. Open from 10:00 to 18:00, it presents around two hundred original exhibits. Highlights include 11th–12th century 'rattle' pysanky from the Princely era and a unique 11th–12th century egg carved from deer antler, discovered in 1996 during excavations in Vyshhorod. The exhibition also notes that the Kyiv-Mezhyhirya Faience Manufactory, founded in 1798, produced decorative 'pysanky' for forty years.

Theatrical Performances

In theater, the play 'Take Everything from Life' is scheduled for April 15 at 18:00 at the Golden Gate Theatre (Shovkovychna Street, 7A). The cast includes Vitalina Bibliv, Bohdan Builuk, Inna Skoryna-Kalaba, Roman Mulenko, Khrystyna Liuba, Andriy Polishchuk, Artem Plionder, Daria Plionder, and Anton Solovei.

On April 14 at 18:00, the Kyiv Academic Drama and Comedy Theatre on the Left Bank will stage 'Bad Roads.' This production, winner of the 'Kyiv Score' award for best play in 2018, is based on a script by Natalia Vorozhbyt. The play premiered at London's Royal Court Theatre in October 2017, with its Ukrainian debut following on September 27, 2018.

April 15 features two notable performances. At 19:00, the Lesya Ukrainka National Academic Drama Theatre will host 'Everything Will Be Fine, But Not Right Away,' with all proceeds from the show directed to support the needs of the Third Army Corps. Concurrently, at 18:00, the Actor Theatre will present 'All My Exes,' starring Maryna Androshchuk, Oleksiy Vertynskyi, Artem Yemtsov, and Ihor Ivanov.

Concerts and Stand-Up Shows

The music scene is highlighted by the 15th anniversary ceremony of the Yuna Music Awards on April 15 at 18:00 in the Ukraine Palace (Velyka Vasylkivska Street, 103). The band Dzidzio will perform their 'Super Hits' concert on April 17 at 18:00 at the Sports Palace (Sportyvna Square, 1). Additionally, the Virsky Ensemble will hold concerts at the Ukraine Palace on April 17 and 18, both starting at 17:00.

For comedy, the 'Passive-Aggressive Show' with Oleksandr Kachura, Vasyl Baidak, Shcherbyna, and Shumko takes place on April 16 at 18:30 at the Kyiv Cultural Cluster 'Krakiv.' The week concludes with the 'Family Therapy' comedy show on April 19 at 19:30 at Bochka Pub (Khreshchatyk Street, 19A), featuring comedians Andriy Berezhok, Pasha Pinchuk, Dasha Bilotserkovets, and Natalia Skoryk.
