AI in education moves into the spotlight with a new Kyiv hub launched by Ukraine's Digital Ministry

According to Мінцифра: In 2025, Kyiv's new WINWIN EdTech Center of Excellence began operating as an educational hub built to pilot and scale artificial intelligence tools for learning. The initiative was launched by Ukraine's Ministry of Digital Transformation with support from international partners, and its concept was developed together with UNICEF, ESTDEV, Google for Education, and Ukraine's Ministry of Education and Science. The Eastern Europe Foundation is the project implementer. This effort fits into Ukraine's wider digital transformation agenda and its work to make modern tools part of everyday learning.

The center brings together experts, government institutions, technology companies, and international organizations. Its specialists are partnering with OpenAI to study how teenagers use artificial intelligence, and they are also testing Matific's interactive mathematics tools. In addition, the hub is developing EduStars Circle, a community of innovative teachers, and is working with UNICEF to create ways to evaluate AI-based solutions.

The inauguration drew high-profile visitors, including Estonia's President Alar Karis, Ukraine's Digital Transformation Minister Oksana Ferchuk, Ukraine's Education and Science Minister Andrii Butenko, and Oksana Matiash, who heads the center. The hub is expected to play a key role in advancing Ukraine's WINWIN 2030 digital innovation strategy and in bringing current technology into the classroom.
