Ukraine’s Social Policy Ministry Audits Local Support Initiatives for Internally Displaced Persons
Review of Regional Assistance Programs for IDPs
According to Міністерство соц. політики: Ukraine’s Ministry of Social Policy is currently assessing local targeted programs designed to assist internally displaced persons (IDPs). Deputy Minister Tetiana Kirienko attended the presentation and discussion of a thematic report by the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine. The report focuses on forced displacement from temporarily occupied territories, deportations, and the realization of IDP rights.
Covering the period from February 24, 2022, to December 31, 2025, the document analyzes the challenges people face after leaving occupied areas. A key state priority is ensuring IDP support by providing clear assistance pathways. The national policy strategy on internal displacement, in effect until 2030, emphasizes comprehensive aid-including access to housing, social services, employment, and document recovery.
Findings from the Audit
Based on the audit of local programs, the ministry will develop methodological recommendations aimed at improving conditions for internally displaced persons across Ukraine.
This initiative by the Ministry of Social Policy represents a significant step toward safeguarding the rights of IDPs who have endured hardships due to the conflict. By reviewing regional programs and issuing guidance, the government can strengthen support mechanisms for those forced to flee their homes and enhance the overall effectiveness of national policy in this area.
As the Ministry of Social Policy works to enhance support for internally displaced persons, it's essential to recognize the ongoing efforts in various regions. For instance, five communities in the Lviv region are set to receive state funding for housing solutions aimed at addressing the needs of displaced individuals. This funding initiative aligns with the ministry's broader strategy to improve living conditions and provide essential services to those affected by the conflict, highlighting a comprehensive approach to tackling the challenges faced by IDPs across Ukraine.
