According to Главком: The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has restored Russia's membership, which is an important event for Russian Paralympians. Vladimir Putin commented on this decision, calling it

'our common great victory'

. The restoration of membership took place on September 27, 2023, during the IPC General Assembly in Seoul, where committee members voted to lift the partial suspension of the National Paralympic Committee of Russia.

Voting Results

During the voting in the first round:

  • 111 delegates supported the lifting of the partial suspension of the RPC;
  • 55 voted against;
  • 11 abstained.

In the second round, 91 delegates expressed for the lifting of the partial suspension of the RPC, 77 voted against, and 8 abstained. This vote became a decisive moment in restoring membership.

The membership of the Russian Paralympic Committee was partially suspended at the IPC General Assembly in September 2023. The restoration will allow Russian Paralympians to once again use the national symbols at international competitions. Alexandra Sayutina also attended Putin's annual address to the Federal Assembly on February 29, 2024, indicating the significance of this event for the country.
