Cyberpolice warns about a new scam scheme: how not to lose money for likes
Ukraine is once again suffering from scammers who promise easy money on the internet. Fraudsters spread messages in popular messengers, inviting people to 'like' hotels on popular booking websites.
The Cyberpolice Department warns that this is just a scam scheme. Scammers may pay out a little money at first, but this is only part of the plan to access personal data and funds of citizens.
initially, a small reward is paid to the 'performer';
then they offer more money - you will have to pay for the hotels yourself;
scammers initially return expenses even with an increase to strengthen trust;
after that, new 'conditions' appear - you will have to pay again due to some technical problems;
finally, the fraudsters disappear, leaving you without money.
Cybersecurity experts emphasize that even communication at the initial stages can lead to financial losses. They recommend following certain rules to avoid becoming a victim of fraudsters.
- only use official job search channels;
- do not transfer money to unknown accounts;
- do not disclose bank card details, logins, and passwords from online banking;
- avoid clicking on suspicious links and carefully check the addresses of websites;
- never enter confidential information on unsecured resources.
If you have revealed your payment card details, experts recommend blocking it immediately through your bank or mobile app. Be cautious and avoid cunning fraudsters.
