The first Italian Irisbus has hit the roads of Kharkiv
On October 22, the first Irisbus CityClass 491E.12.29 city bus was officially launched in Kharkiv. It was transferred by the twin city of Turin as part of aid to Ukrainian communities affected by the war.
This is just the first of ten buses that arrived in Kharkiv from Italy. All of them are in good technical condition and ready for operation. The city administration notes that new buses will gradually appear on other routes.
New buses are part of international support
The transfer of transport from Turin is another example of partnership between European cities. According to local authorities, such initiatives help not only improve public transport but also support the city's recovery after extensive destruction.
Earlier it was reported that Kharkiv plans to gradually put into operation all buses received from Turin. After a technical inspection, each of them will be assigned to routes with the highest passenger load.
Transport updates are ongoing across Ukraine
In parallel with this initiative, the Ukrainian government has allocated 500 million hryvnias for the purchase of school buses, including for frontline territories. This is part of a large-scale public transport renewal program aimed at ensuring safe transportation in communities affected by war.
The Ministry of Infrastructure notes that cooperation with European cities allows for faster fleet renewal and improves the quality of passenger transport.
