Ukraine's Gas Grid Operator Gets New Interim Leader

According to Главком: On February 7, the Supervisory Board of LLC 'Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine' (GTSOU) appointed Nataliya Boyko as the company's Acting Chief Executive Officer. This appointment comes at a critical time for Ukraine's energy infrastructure, which is vital for both domestic supply and European energy security. Boyko brings over 15 years of professional experience in the energy sector and previously served as the company's Deputy Head. She is a member of the company's directorate alongside Vladyslav Medvediev, Borys Liubych, Kateryna Kovalenko, and Oleksandr Tymofeiev.

Nataliya Boyko's Career and Political Background

Prior to Boyko's appointment, Vladyslav Medvediev had been serving as the company's acting head since early April 2025, following the resignation of the former CEO, Dmytro Lippa. Boyko also has political experience: in 2019, she ran for a seat in the Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine's parliament) of the IX convocation from the 'European Solidarity' party but later declined the parliamentary mandate. From autumn 2019, she represented the Cabinet of Ministers on the Supervisory Board of NJSC 'Naftogaz of Ukraine'.

Throughout her career, Nataliya Boyko has held significant positions in the energy field. From February 2017 to autumn 2019, she served as Deputy Minister of Energy and Coal Industry for European Integration and was a member of the Bureau of the UN Committee on Sustainable Energy. In 2015, she worked as an advisor in the Presidential Administration, coordinating energy reform projects. Boyko also gained international experience, having worked as a consultant and project coordinator for financial institutions at Environmental Resources Management, a gas-focused company in Germany.

Boyko's appointment as Acting CEO of the GTSOU occurs amidst ongoing leadership changes and legal investigations into alleged financial misconduct within the company. Her extensive background in energy is seen as a potential asset for stabilizing operations and restoring confidence in the company's management. The move underscores the need for strong governance to ensure the reliable operation of Ukraine's strategic gas infrastructure.
