Five countries on the route: Ukraine and Greece signed an agreement on gas supply
Візит Зеленського: Україна та Греція уклали важливу угоду щодо забезпечення газом у зимовий період.

Meeting of the President of Ukraine with the Prime Minister of Greece

According to hvylya.net: President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting in Athens with the Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis during which a Letter of Intent regarding the supply of natural gas to Ukraine in the winter period was signed. Both leaders also discussed the possibility of obtaining natural gas from the USA through Greece.

'Our agreements with Greece today are an important part of the large energy package that we have prepared for this winter to ensure gas supply for Ukraine. I want to thank you once again, dear friend. Thank you to your team and the companies for making this happen', – said Volodymyr Zelensky.

The signing of the document involved the head of the board of Naftogaz of Ukraine Serhiy Kolesnyk and the CEO of the Greek state company DEPA Commercial Konstantinos Xifaras. The agreement provides for the transportation of gas to Ukraine via a route ensured by operators of the gas transmission systems of five European countries.

Energy sector leader warns about changes in prices

Energy expert Mykhailo Shuster emphasized that there will no longer be cheap energy in Ukraine. He noted that in previous years, energy facilities had already paid off, and the funds allocated for them were mainly directed towards fuel and salaries. However, the introduction of new energy facilities is not advantageous due to high costs.

'I emphasize, not because it [solar energy] is expensive, but because new energy construction costs refreshingly expensive. If electricity is expensive at old capacities, with the necessity of introducing new capacities, it will rise to very-very refreshingly high amounts.'

The meeting of the President of Ukraine with the Prime Minister of Greece ended with the signing of an important document on the supply of natural gas to Ukraine. This opens up new opportunities for the energy security of the country and promotes cooperation with other countries in the energy sector. At the same time, experts note that changes in energy prices in Ukraine could lead to increased costs for the population and businesses.
