Pension of 390 thousand hryvnias: the name of the Ukrainian with record payments revealed
The Ukrainian Pension Fund has recorded a record pension in Ukraine, which is received by the former head of the Constitutional Court, Natalia Shaptala - more than 390 thousand hryvnias per month. This amount is regularly transferred by the Pension Fund, considering the lifelong monetary allowance guaranteed to former judges of the Constitutional Court.
Shaptala headed the Constitutional Court for only a few months in 2019, after which she withdrew her candidacy and retired. She filed a lawsuit demanding the return of payments and won the case, receiving 90% of the judge's salary.
The court's decision to reduce pension payments was canceled, as in addition to the right to lifelong maintenance, the increase in judges' salaries was also taken into account. This led to the fact that her pension now amounts to more than 390 thousand hryvnias, which is a record figure in Ukraine.
Sergey Kivalov and his pension
In terms of standard pension size, Sergey Kivalov, a former people's deputy and ex-head of the Central Election Commission, leads with a monthly payment of about 246 thousand hryvnias. This is almost twice less than Natalia Shaptala.
The average pension in Ukraine for the year 2025 is slightly over 6 thousand hryvnias, so the amounts received by Kivalov and Shaptala create an impression of a significant gap between the 'privileged' and other citizens.
The Ukrainian Pension Fund has confirmed the notoriety of the record pension received by Natalia Shaptala, the former head of the Constitutional Court. The payment amount exceeds 390 thousand hryvnias monthly, setting a new record in the country. In contrast, the average pension in the country for the year 2025 is slightly over 6 thousand hryvnias, once again highlighting the limited accessibility of such high pension payments for most retirees.
