Ukraine's 'X-Factor' Winner Aida Mykolaichuk Stranded in US Without Legal Documents
Aida Mykolaichuk: New Challenges and a Career Shift
According to РБК-Україна — Lite: Aida Mykolaichuk, the winner of the hit show 'X-Factor', once signed with the Sony Music label. But due to the war in Ukraine, that collaboration didn't last, and several recorded tracks were never released. Some projects had to be shelved. As a result, she now releases music under the alias AIDA purely as a hobby, with no plans to return to the stage.
Though Mykolaichuk has received job offers in the United States, she cannot take them because of legal restrictions. She explained:
'The problem is I still don't have my papers, so I can't travel abroad. And this contract requires travel. Unfortunately, that's where things stand.' Aida Mykolaichuk
The main reason she stepped away from performing was burnout from the music industry. After spending years trying to establish herself in show business, the journey no longer brought her joy. The artist stated:
'I haven't been interested in it for a long time. When I was looking for my last manager, I made a promise to myself that this was the final time I would give myself a chance to become a significant part of the Ukrainian entertainment industry.' Aida Mykolaichuk
A New Path in Film
Since moving to the US, Mykolaichuk has decided to pivot into the film industry. She now works as a makeup artist and hairstylist-a field she has formal training in. She also occasionally appears in crowd scenes and is trying her hand at acting in small projects tied to her husband's work, as he is a stunt performer and stunt coordinator.
'My husband isn't just a stuntman. He's also a stunt coordinator and director. He and his team produce short action films for actors' reels, which helps them land roles and showcase different sides of their talent. I played a very short part in one of those projects. But there's more to come. The next step will be a speaking role,' Aida noted.
Aida Mykolaichuk, who rose to fame through 'X-Factor', now faces hurdles linked to the war in Ukraine and travel restrictions. Her decision to shift from music to film reflects how she is adapting to life in the US and exploring new ways to express herself. It shows her flexibility and drive to keep growing, despite the obstacles she encounters.
