A 77-Year-Old Woman Was Rescued Near Lyman Using a Robot by Pilots of the 60th Brigade
Civilian Evacuation Under Dangerous Conditions
According to Главком: On April 25, 2026, pilots from the 60th Separate Mechanized Brigade spotted an elderly woman walking along a road under enemy fire. To get her to safety, military personnel deployed a ground robotic system (GRS). The rescue operation lasted four hours, during which the woman was evacuated from the Lyman area along with three other civilians who were also fleeing on foot.
The rescued woman, aged 77, had lived in her own home for 53 years before it was destroyed by Russian forces. To avoid frightening her, the GRS was covered with a blanket and left with a note that read: 'Grandma, sit down!' She followed the instruction, climbed onto the robot, and was transported to a secure location. This incident highlights the innovative use of unmanned ground vehicles in high-risk zones, offering a safer alternative for both soldiers and civilians.
The Military’s Role in Humanitarian Missions
All evacuees were moved out of the combat zone and handed over to the 'Angels of Triika' patron service. The operation was carried out by operators from the 'Cerberus' GRS company of the 3rd Army Corps, while aerial reconnaissance teams from the 60th Brigade identified the woman in need of assistance.
This event underscores the growing importance of modern technology in military operations, especially when civilian safety is a top priority. Using robotic systems for evacuations in dangerous areas could become a new standard in such scenarios, reducing risks for troops and non-combatants alike. Moreover, the attention to detail-like ensuring comfort and reassurance for evacuees-reflects the sensitivity and humanity of soldiers operating under the pressures of conflict.
