The robbery occurred on the morning of October 19, when criminals climbed the facade of the museum, broke windows, and stole jewelry from the Apollo Gallery.

The Louvre's security service refused to start working and demands that the museum's management immediately inform about measures to enhance security following the robbery. This was reported by SUD union leader Sarah Abdelhidi. The museum is temporarily closed to discuss the situation with staff, reports The New York Times.
Representatives of the Louvre unions warned about the critical state of security in the museum. CFDT union secretary Alexis Friedt pointed to the outdated video surveillance system and lack of personnel for evacuation. The level of security has significantly decreased due to the reduction in the number of Louvre security staff from 994 to 856 individuals.

A robbery occurred at the Louvre, causing concern among museum staff. Union representatives had warned about deficiencies in the security system even before the incident. They demand that security measures be strengthened, as the reduction in staff numbers may pose a threat of similar incidents in the future.
