Weather Outlook for Ukraine on January 24-25

According to ХВИЛЯ: Ukraine is set for a weekend of sharply contrasting weather conditions, with significant temperature drops forecast for the northeast and east, alongside official ice hazard warnings. This comes as a typical winter pattern brings varied conditions across the country's regions.

According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, temperatures in the south, Zakarpattia, and Prykarpattia on January 24 will range from -3 to +2 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the northeast and eastern parts of the country will see nighttime lows plunge to -10...-15°C, with daytime highs only reaching -7...-12°C. Cloudy skies with light snow are expected nationwide. Zakarpattia and Prykarpattia are forecast to experience moderate wet snow mixed with rain, leading to icy conditions. A first-level yellow danger warning has been issued for these areas.

Kyiv Forecast and Safety Advisories

Kyiv and its surrounding region will also see cloudy weather on January 24, with intermittent light snow and patches of ice. Temperatures in the capital are predicted to be between -9 and -11°C at night, and -7 to -9°C during the day. A warming trend is expected to begin across Ukraine from January 25.

Rescue services strongly warn against venturing onto ice: 'Under these conditions, going out onto the ice and being on it is dangerous!'

Residents, particularly in regions with heavier precipitation like Zakarpattia and Prykarpattia, are advised to exercise caution. Given the changing weather, people should remain vigilant about road conditions and potential risks associated with winter precipitation. The heightened danger on ice could lead to accidents, making it crucial to heed the advice of rescue services. While the anticipated warming from January 25 may alter the situation, safety must remain the top priority for all citizens for now.
