Separately, the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office and juvenile prosecutors of the Shevchenkivskyi District Prosecutor's Office secured a 15-year prison sentence for a 38-year-old man convicted of domestic violence against his minor daughter and stepdaughter. The Office of the Prosecutor General has indicated this verdict will be appealed. These cases highlight a persistent and serious issue of violence against children in the country, which authorities continue to confront.

This situation underscores the severity of the problem of violence against children in Ukraine, which remains a pressing concern amid a series of similar crimes.

Authorities continue to take measures to investigate such cases and ensure child safety, but a more active societal response to violence within families and communities is also needed. Addressing the issue will require a comprehensive approach, including:

  • preventive measures
  • educational programs aimed at preventing violence against children
