Polish special services detained Ukrainians for espionage: what is known about the case
Two Ukrainian citizens suspected of espionage for a foreign intelligence service have been detained in Katowice. They are a 32-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man who were gathering intelligence information on the territory of Poland.
The representative of the minister-coordinator of Polish special services, Jacek Dobzynski, reported this on his Twitter.
According to the police, the detained individuals were studying information about the Polish military and the country's critical infrastructure, including transport facilities used to support Ukraine.
'They are accused of espionage under the Polish Penal Code. The case is being investigated by the Military Affairs Department of the District Prosecutor's Office in Lublin.'
The court imposed a three-month detention as a preventive measure on both suspects.
As a result of a joint investigation by the Military Counterintelligence Service and the Internal Security Agency of Poland, two Ukrainian citizens who were collecting intelligence information about Polish servicemen and the country's critical infrastructure were detained. Such actions lead to tensions in relations between Ukraine and Poland, requiring further investigation and the implementation of appropriate measures regarding future cooperation between the countries.
