Alexander Danilin passed away: how LGBT+ activist and Marlene Skandal fought for rights

On Thursday, September 11, military psychologist and one of the co-founders of the NGO 'Ukrainian LGBT+ Military and Veterans for Equal Rights' Alexander Danilin passed away, better known in the LGBT+ community as drag artist Marlene Skandal. This was reported by 'Glavkom'.
«There are no words to express the pain of loss. Unfortunately, your life was short, but you will be remembered forever», – reads a post on Danilin's page.
In February of this year, Danilin announced a fundraising campaign for 400,000 hryvnias to support monthly therapy necessary for his survival while waiting for a liver transplant.

Sviatoslav Sheremet dedicated a moving publication to Alexander Danilin on his Facebook. He noted that Alexander had the courage to become the face of the community on the cover of the magazine 'One of Us' in 2008 and remained a humble, simple person despite his stardom.
The documentary film 'Queens of Joy' also showcased the creativity and life of drag artists during the war, in which Marlene Skandal participated, revealing the importance of creativity as a vital force.
Alexander Danilin, known as drag artist Marlene Skandal, has passed away. He was an active member of the LGBT+ community and will be remembered as an outstanding and brave individual who devoted his life to creativity and supporting equal rights.
