The 'core night' rule has been introduced at airports in Poland: what does it mean
A new rule at airports «core night» is being introduced in Poland, which will limit night flights. The first to implement it will be Poznań-Lawica Airport starting from October 25, 2026. This is reported by “InPoland”.
The innovation concerns the scheduling of regular flights during the night period and aims to reduce noise for residents of nearby areas.
What does the 'core night' rule mean at airports in Poland
The new rule provides for a complete ban on scheduling regular flights during a designated night time:
-
from 1:00 to 5:00 — the 'core night' period
-
at this time, regular flights will not be scheduled
-
the airport will not close completely.
At the same time, exceptions remain. In the night period, the following are allowed:
-
rescue and humanitarian flights
-
military flights
-
delayed flights that cannot be operated at another time.
Why night restrictions are being introduced and how it will affect flights
The decision was made due to the increase in residential development near the airport and the growing number of complaints about noise.
Currently, there are already restrictions on flights from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM in Poznań, but they limit the development of the route network. The new rule will allow for a better balance between the interests of residents and airlines, preserving the possibility of flights in the evening and morning hours.
Similar restrictions are already being used in many European countries as standard practice for controlling night noise.
Recall that Wrocław Airport in 2026 will become more convenient and often more advantageous for flights for Ukrainians.
