How the Medevac Ukraine Program Has Treated Over 6,500 Wounded Soldiers Abroad
Vladimir's Story
According to Міністерство Здоров'я: Vladimir, a 36-year-old soldier, sustained three separate combat injuries and is now receiving treatment abroad through the Medevac Ukraine program. Launched in April 2022, this initiative is a joint effort by Ukraine's Ministry of Health, the European Union, the World Health Organization, and the governments of several European nations. To date, it has facilitated medical care for 6,543 Ukrainians across 33 different countries.
Vladimir joined the defense of Ukraine in November 2023. He has been undergoing rehabilitation in the Netherlands for over six months, receiving critical care for his wounds. This program has proven to be a vital lifeline, providing essential treatment for both military personnel and civilians injured in the conflict.
"Ukraine must be defended because it is the land of our fathers and our children, and truth is on our side. The Russian criminals will undoubtedly face punishment." - Vladimir
The countries that have accepted the highest number of patients under the program are:

International Support for Ukraine
The Medevac Ukraine program highlights the crucial role of international solidarity in the face of ongoing aggression. It goes beyond providing medical aid, serving as a powerful demonstration of European unity with the Ukrainian people. Such initiatives not only aid the wounded but also strengthen international bonds and sustain global backing for Ukraine's cause.
In addition to the medical care provided through the Medevac Ukraine program, international support continues to manifest in various forms, such as the recent donation of 24 medical vehicles by Irish benefactors. These contributions play a crucial role in enhancing the capabilities of Ukraine's frontline medical services.
