Russian scientists are testing longevity molecules: what is known about the research
According to glavcom.ua: Russian scientists are actively researching the mechanisms of aging, hoping to find ways to extend life. In particular, they are studying the impact of various biologically active substances on the aging process, as well as experimenting with geroprotectors - special substances that can 'destroy aging cells'.
Researchers from the Russian Scientific Center for Surgery named after Academician Petrovsky are working on creating a 'biological age clock' and testing extracts of green tea, grapes, curcumin, and grapefruit on animals to prolong life. Other scientists focus on studying autophagy and effective molecules that can increase the lifespan of worms.
Despite the immense potential in this field, life expectancy in Russia has decreased in recent years, reaching 72.84 years. This threatens the realization of ambitious plans for longevity and requires further research and efforts.
