Ukraine's Bronytsia-Unguri Border Crossing with Moldova Undergoes Major Upgrade
Modernizing the Bronytsia-Unguri Border Crossing
According to Главком: A major reconstruction project is underway at the Bronytsia-Unguri border crossing between Ukraine's Vinnytsia region and Moldova. Funded by the state budget, the project aims to transform the facility into a logistics hub and significantly boost its processing capacity. The crossing remains fully operational during the construction work. This upgrade is part of broader efforts to modernize Ukraine's border infrastructure and improve connectivity with its neighbors.
The total project cost exceeds 162 million Ukrainian hryvnias. Last year, an initial 60 million hryvnias was allocated for the first phase. Oleg Babii, the acting head of the Service for Restoration and Infrastructure Development in Vinnytsia Oblast, recently held an on-site meeting in the Mohyliv-Podilskyi district. Construction crews are currently preparing the foundation for road expansion and installing utility networks.
Key Project Components
The reconstruction plan includes:
- Construction of additional traffic lanes;
- New facilities for customs and border guard services;
- Implementation of rapid data-reader systems;
- Improved traffic flow management.
Expanding this crossing will help alleviate congestion at the main border point in Mohyliv-Podilskyi. Upon completion, the facility's capacity is expected to increase by 1.5 to 2 times. As representatives from the Restoration Service noted,
“Developing border logistics remains a priority for our work.”
The Bronytsia-Unguri project is a component of Ukraine's national infrastructure strategy, which seeks to enhance cross-border connections and streamline customs procedures. The increased capacity is anticipated to foster regional trade and business development while improving conditions for passenger transport. Such modernization is crucial for Ukraine's deeper integration into the European economic space.
