Christmas Holidays and Healthy Eating: How to Avoid Stomach Problems
According to Міністерство Здоров'я: This year, we will once again celebrate the Christmas holidays under different circumstances – some in the family circle, some at a distance or with thoughts of our loved ones who are not near. Even in wartime, these days remain an occasion for warmth, support, and care for ourselves and our loved ones.
If you have the opportunity to gather at the festive table – on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, or New Year's Eve – it is important to remember moderation in eating, especially after a period of fasting, as fasting does not always mean dietary food.
Traditional dishes are usually prepared with grains, legumes, vegetables, mushrooms, dried fruits, and fish. These are sources of fiber, plant protein, vitamins, and minerals, contributing to the normal functioning of the digestive system and can be a beneficial part of the diet.
However, some dishes may contain a lot of oil (fried mushrooms or fish), simple carbohydrates (kutya with a large amount of honey or sugar), or salt (pickled vegetables).
Additionally, the combination of a large number of different dishes in one meal can lead to overeating, even if only a small amount of each dish is consumed.
Healthy Eating Rules for the Holidays
So today we will discuss the rules to follow so that the holidays do not become a trial for the digestive system. May these days bring joy, warmth, and pleasant memories – without harm to health.
The approach of Christmas this year brings with it a variety of conditions in which people will celebrate: some in the family circle, others far from their loved ones. However, despite all the differences, it is essential to remember healthy eating, listen to your body, and not forget about moderation in food, so that the celebration is not only fun but also beneficial for the body.
