Artem Dovbyk Transfer Update

According to Главком: Italian Serie A side AS Roma has confirmed they are open to selling Artem Dovbyk, setting a minimum transfer fee of €20 million. The Ukrainian striker joined Roma in the summer of 2024 after the club paid Girona €41.1 million to secure his move. His current contract with Roma runs through 2029, with an annual salary of approximately €5.5 million.

According to reports, Dovbyk does not feature in the plans of Roma head coach Gian Piero Gasperini. In January 2025, he was close to leaving the club, but a thigh injury prevented the transfer. Roma plans to part ways with seven players in the summer of 2025, including Dovbyk. During the 2025/26 season, he has made 18 appearances for Roma across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing two assists. The main contenders to sign Dovbyk are Villarreal and Real Betis, both of which finished in the top five of La Liga last season and secured direct spots in the Champions League group stage.

Girona Signs Oleksandr Pishchur

Separately, Girona has officially announced the signing of Ukrainian striker Oleksandr Pishchur, who previously played for Hungarian club Győr. The 21-year-old's contract with Girona runs until the summer of 2031. The transfer fee has not been disclosed, though insider Fabrizio Romano reported it to be €1 million. Pishchur becomes the fourth Ukrainian player in Girona's squad, joining Viktor Tsygankov, Vladyslav Vanat, and Vladyslav Krapyvtsov.

These moves highlight the active transfer strategies of both clubs as they reshape their rosters for modern football demands. Roma, aiming to streamline its squad, has decided to let Dovbyk go after he failed to reach his potential under Gasperini. Meanwhile, Girona continues to expand its Ukrainian contingent, signaling a strategic focus on building a competitive team for international competitions.

As AS Roma makes plans to offload Artem Dovbyk, the transfer market is heating up with other Ukrainian talents also making moves. For instance, Ukrainian striker Oleksandr Pishchur has joined Girona, further emphasizing the growing presence of Ukrainian players in European football. This shift not only reflects the evolving strategies of both clubs but also indicates the competitive landscape of the transfer market as teams seek to optimize their rosters.
