Attacks on Power Infrastructure

According to Главком: Russia's military keeps targeting energy facilities in Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region, causing severe damage. On June 19, drones and artillery hit the Nikopol and Synelnykove districts, as well as Pavlohrad. An eight-year-old girl died in Pavlohrad as a result. Fires broke out at several sites, with some locations struck multiple times, leading to extensive destruction.

Thermal Power Plant Hit

Earlier, on June 12, Russian forces attacked a thermal power plant owned by DTEK. The assault killed one employee and injured another. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has launched nearly 230 strikes on DTEK's thermal power plants. Despite these challenges, DTEK's power engineers restored electricity to nearly two million households in May alone.

According to a report from Glavcom citing DTEK, the situation remains dire, with the attacks severely undermining the region's energy stability.

These strikes on Dnipropetrovsk's power grid are part of Russia's broader strategy to destabilize Ukraine by weakening its economy and public morale. It is noteworthy that, despite relentless attacks, Ukrainian energy workers continue to restore power, demonstrating resilience and professionalism under wartime conditions. This ongoing crisis highlights the urgent need to protect energy infrastructure and ensure civilian safety amid hostilities.

The ongoing attacks on energy infrastructure in Ukraine have devastating consequences, as highlighted by the recent strike that resulted in the tragic death of an eight-year-old girl. This incident is not isolated; just days earlier, a thermal power plant suffered a similar fate, leading to casualties among the power engineering team.
