Infrastructure Under Attack

According to Кулеба: Russia has launched a combined drone and missile assault against residential and energy infrastructure across multiple Ukrainian regions. In the capital, Kyiv, more than 1,100 apartment buildings have lost heating, with the Darnytskyi and Dniprovskyi districts facing the most severe disruptions. Repair crews, totaling 1,122 workers including 554 specialists from other regions and Ukrzaliznytsia railway brigades, are working to restore services. Despite the heating crisis, Kyiv residents continue to have access to running water and sewage systems.

Kharkiv Region Impact

The northeastern city of Kharkiv has also been heavily impacted, with heat supplies cut off to 110,000 customers. In the Lozova district of the Kharkiv region, an additional 15,000 subscribers are without heating. Critical infrastructure in parts of the region is now operating on backup power sources. These attacks represent a continued strategy of targeting civilian energy supplies during winter. Restoration efforts are ongoing to resume heat and electricity to the affected areas.

These latest strikes underscore the ongoing conflict's severe impact on Ukraine's civilian population. Restoring damaged infrastructure is critical for meeting basic needs like heating and power, especially amid freezing winter temperatures. Recovery operations are likely to be protracted, and their success will depend heavily on the stability of the security situation in the targeted regions.
