The head of the Kherson City Military Administration, Yaroslav Shanhko, reported that the woman sustained fatal injuries. Shanhko expressed his condolences to her family and loved ones. These attacks on energy infrastructure are part of a sustained Russian campaign to cripple Ukraine's power grid, especially as the country approaches the second anniversary of the full-scale invasion.

This is not an isolated incident. Last December, Russian occupying forces also attacked the Kherson TPP using drones, artillery, and other weapons, damaging the station's buildings and equipment. Furthermore, in the early hours of March 26, Russian forces struck four DTEK energy facilities in the Odesa region, causing them to lose power.

In response to these threats, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has allocated UAH 12.85 billion under resilience plans for the regions. These funds are designated for protecting 209 critical infrastructure objects in frontline regions and the Kyiv region. The total estimated need for the recovery and modernization of Ukraine's energy sector over the next decade is now $90.6 billion, which is 34% higher than previous damage assessments.
