Москва готує заходи на випадок енергетичної кризи: Київ може зіткнутися з тривалими відключеннями електрики.

The situation with Ukraine's energy infrastructure

According to ХВИЛЯ: Russia is conducting massive attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, threatening an energy blackout. According to officials, about 5,000 drones and missiles were launched in November. From October to December, there were eight massive strikes that significantly affected the country's energy system. Kyiv remains at risk of prolonged power outages, with residents currently left without electricity for up to 16 hours a day.

Consequences of the attacks and forecasts

In early December, energy workers managed to reduce outages to 2.5 hours, but a massive attack on the night of December 5 critically damaged the network. Russian strikes destroyed about 60% of the country's gas production, further complicating the energy supply situation. Experts predict that the electricity deficit may last until spring 2026, raising concerns about energy stability.

“We are either on the brink of a complete blackout in the east of the country, or very close to it”

Senior European diplomat

For his part, Mykola Kolisnyk commented that 'they are conducting strategic attacks.' Another source familiar with the situation confirmed that 'we are a step away from a complete blackout in Kyiv.' Maksym Tymchenko emphasized that 'we have lost a significant part of our capacity' and added that the key task is to find backup equipment in various parts of Europe that can be quickly delivered to Ukraine.

In the context of the conflict, Dmitry Peskov stated: 'Peace, not a truce,' while Volodymyr Zelensky expressed readiness for an 'energy truce.' The situation remains tense, and further events will directly impact Ukraine's energy sector.

Attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure have serious consequences not only for the security of energy supply but also for the socio-economic stability of the country. Given the predictions of experts pointing to the possibility of a prolonged electricity deficit, Ukraine urgently needs to find solutions to improve the situation. Cooperation with European partners in securing backup equipment may become a key factor in overcoming these challenges.
