Russia disguises fuel trucks as milk tankers to supply occupied Crimea
Russian forces camouflage fuel vehicles
According to Главком: Facing severe logistical disruptions and ongoing strikes by Ukraine’s Armed Forces, Russian troops have resorted to disguising fuel trucks as milk tankers and civilian cargo vehicles to deliver gasoline to temporarily occupied Crimea. According to information circulating in monitoring channels, the Russians are retrofitting fuel tankers with special frames that make the vehicles resemble ordinary trucks. This context highlights the growing pressure on Russia’s supply lines in the region.
The purpose of this deception is to ensure fuel reaches occupied Crimea. Some vehicles are being fitted with structures that visually mimic the bodies of civilian trailers, altering the appearance of fuel tankers. Such tactics are not new for Russian forces, as they have previously camouflaged military equipment as civilian transport.
“It has gotten to the point where they are now building superstructures over fuel trucks, disguising them as civilian vehicles. There is even information that they have started using vehicles designed to transport food products, such as milk, for this purpose.”

Logistics situation in occupied Crimea
The logistics situation in occupied Crimea is worsening due to blocked or heavily damaged traditional supply routes. The occupiers currently avoid using the Crimean Bridge for transporting fuel tankers. The Kerch ferry crossing is also unable to handle shipments because of significant damage to the ferries. The occupation authorities in Sevastopol have imposed unprecedented restrictions, including a curfew and the closure of ferry service to Russia.
Additionally, to conserve fuel, no gasoline will be sold in Crimea on June 22 and 23. Refueling will be limited to vehicles of special services that ensure the city’s vital functions, including those used by collaborators and occupiers. In occupied Sevastopol, temporary power outage schedules have also been introduced, which the occupation authorities attribute to overloaded electrical grids.
As a result, Russian forces are taking emergency measures to overcome fuel supply difficulties in Crimea, employing vehicle camouflage and supply restrictions.
These actions indicate serious logistical problems for Russian troops in the occupied territories, particularly due to infrastructure destruction and active military operations by Ukraine’s Armed Forces. The camouflage of equipment may point to growing resource shortages, which could affect the occupiers’ ability to maintain their presence in the region. With increasing restrictions and fuel scarcity, the situation is likely to become even more tense for both Crimea’s population and the military operating there.
The ongoing challenges faced by Russian forces in Crimea highlight their desperate measures to maintain supply lines. As they resort to disguising fuel trucks, it’s crucial to understand the broader implications of these tactics.
