Drone Commander: Russia Lacks Strength for Major Offensive, Resorting to Small-Group Tactics
The Frontline Situation
According to Главком: Kyrylo Veres, commander of the 20th Drone Systems Brigade K2, stated that Russia currently lacks the capacity to launch a large-scale offensive. According to him, the enemy is employing a tactic of advancing with small infantry groups, which highlights the resource and capability constraints of the Russian army. This assessment comes as Ukrainian forces continue to adapt their defensive strategies against a numerically superior foe.
Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, confirmed that the main efforts of Russian troops are concentrated on three key directions:
- Pokrovsk
- Ocheretyne
- Oleksandrivka
The active frontline as of early February stretches for approximately 1,200 kilometers, indicating the complex and demanding nature of the current conflict.
Enemy Capabilities Are Limited
Kyrylo Veres noted that for Russia to seize large territories, Ukrainian troops would have to retreat, but he does not see the enemy possessing the resources for such an outcome.
“This is a creeping offensive by small infantry groups. The enemy is not capable of more than that at the moment,” - Kyrylo Veres
Statements from Ukrainian military officials suggest the frontline situation remains tense. However, the lack of resources in Russian forces points to a shift in enemy tactics. Concentrating efforts on limited directions may be an attempt to optimize resources, but it also indicates a shortage of capacity for large-scale operations. The further development of events on the front will remain under close observation by military analysts and experts.
