Russia promises to restore Kakhovka HPP: why these statements are fake

Promise to restore the Kakhovka reservoir
Обіцянки Росії відновити Каховську ГЕС: чому цим словам не варто вірити.

The head of the occupation administration in Kherson region, Volodymyr Saldo, claims that the Kakhovka reservoir will be restored, but only 'after the conflict is over.' Such promises only serve to close eyes to the real problems created by the occupiers. This information was disseminated by the Center for Countering Disinformation through 'Gromadske.'

The occupying authorities are trying to blame the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the explosion of the Kakhovka HPP by spreading fake news about missile strikes. But in reality, it was the Russian side that destroyed the dam, as confirmed by various international investigations.

According to the CDC: 'The consequences of the destruction of the Kakhovka HPP led to a large-scale technogenic disaster. Hundreds of thousands of hectares of agricultural land in southern Ukraine were left without water, many settlements were affected, and unique ecosystems were destroyed.'

The Center for Countering Disinformation also emphasizes that promises to restore the reservoir 'after the conflict is over' actually mean that this will never happen. It is just an attempt to divert attention from their own crimes and create an illusion of concern.

In June 2023, the occupiers destroyed the Kakhovka HPP dam, leading to changes in the water level in the rivers flowing into the reservoir. However, it should be noted that the decrease in water levels in other rivers of the Dnipro reservoir is not related to the Kakhovka HPP, despite widespread myths about it.

The article describes the promise of the occupation administration to restore the Kakhovka reservoir 'after the conflict is over.' Authority speakers are trying to shift responsibility for the explosion of the HPP onto the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but the reality is that it was the Russian troops who caused the technogenic disaster that damaged unique ecosystems and agriculture. The attempts of the occupiers to cut their own crimes stumble upon facts that have been confirmed by international organizations.
