Fuel Export Restrictions in Russia

According to ХВИЛЯ: The Russian government has extended restrictions on the export of gasoline and diesel until the end of February 2026 due to Ukrainian drone attacks. The decree regarding these restrictions was reported by Bloomberg agency. According to the new rules, the restrictions will apply to all fuel exporters, including producers, except for diesel fuel manufacturers.

Restrictions on fuel exports were introduced at the end of August 2025. These measures were a response to drone strikes that caused a crisis in the industry and led to a spike in prices. The previous deadline for the restrictions was set to expire at the end of 2025, but the security situation and market stability prompted an extension.

Economic Consequences

The continuation of fuel export restrictions in Russia highlights the seriousness of the economic consequences caused by the conflict with Ukraine. Amid growing instability in the region, these measures could significantly impact the global fuel market as Russia is one of the largest exporters. It also indicates that the government is trying to control internal prices and ensure stability in its economy amid external threats.
