According to glavcom.ua: There has been an active spread of disinformation orchestrated by Russia, as well as resources disguised as Ukrainian, with manipulations regarding power outages in Ukraine. The Center for Counteracting Disinformation warns citizens about manipulative and deceitful narratives, writes Glavkom.

Hostile narratives regarding electricity

Hostile narratives claim that the Ukrainian authorities 'unfairly distribute electricity', leaving the eastern regions without power, while the west of the country supposedly does not suffer from outages. Additionally, information is being circulated about alleged electricity exports to the EU, supposedly occurring while Ukrainians are left without light.

Previously, the Ministry of Energy reported that Ukraine is not exporting electricity, and all available generation in the country is currently directed exclusively to cover domestic consumption.

The real reason for power outages

'The spread of such narratives is a typical example of the enemy's information operation. The goal is to provoke a rift in society, destabilize the internal situation, and sow conflict among residents of different regions of Ukraine. In reality, the only reason for power outages is the terrorist strikes by Russians on the energy infrastructure. The difference in the scale of outages between regions is explained by the fact that the enemy deliberately attacks not only generation facilities but also electricity transmission lines between Ukrainian regions,' the message states.

Planned power outages

As reported, by the end of the week, power outages for three groups of consumers will be implemented in Ukraine. As a result, outages lasting up to 12 hours are expected.

Preparedness for power outages

It is important to be prepared for planned, emergency, or prolonged power outages, especially in cold weather conditions, given the increased risks to Ukraine's energy infrastructure. Glavkom has gathered recommendations to help properly prepare your home, stock up on essentials, and know what to do when light, heat, and water disappear.

Disinformation about power outages controlled by Russia is actively spreading in Ukraine. Authorities emphasize that the only reason for the outages is the terrorist strikes by Russians on the energy infrastructure of the country.
