Russians attacked the fire station in Druzhkivka on Rescuer's Day: everyone survived
Attack on the fire station in Druzhkivka
Today, September 17, on Rescuer's Day, Russians struck the fire station in Druzhkivka in Donetsk region. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing the State Emergency Service.
“A drone attacked the building: the blast wave blew out the garage entrance gates, debris damaged the facade. But the main thing is that the rescuers managed to hide in the shelter. No one was injured. The equipment also remained intact,” the message reads.
The State Emergency Service emphasizes that this is not the first time that Russians have deliberately targeted fire and rescue units. “And it is particularly cynical that they did this on the professional holiday of those who protect the lives of others every day,” the statement says.
Rescuer's Holiday
Let us remind you that the tradition of congratulating rescuers on this day was established in 2008 by a decree of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko. On Rescuer's Day, all those involved in emergency rescue services and civil protection are congratulated: firefighters, dog handlers, divers, as well as citizen volunteers. On the occasion of this holiday, 'Glavkom' prepared special greetings and festive postcards for Rescuer's Day to thank these heroic professionals for their courage and selflessness.
Notably, Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated the rescuers of the State Emergency Service on their professional holiday.
The incident that occurred in Druzhkivka highlights the danger that rescuers face, and underscores the importance of honoring their work during their professional holiday. The attack on the fire station on this special day is striking in its cynicism and demonstrates the great risks they take while protecting others.
