Russia has deployed anti-drone radar: why this threatens HIMARS and how to destroy them

Russians find a new threat on the front
Росія впровадила нові технології протиповітряної оборони: які ризики це несе для системи HIMARS та як їх нейтралізувати.

According to hvylya.net: The Russian armed forces have improved their anti-drone defense to combat Ukrainian reconnaissance drones. They have created a network of anti-drone radar stations that detect targets before the start of the attack. Experts indicate that this Russian system is based on approaches that emerged in the Ukrainian Armed Forces and were adapted with the latest technologies to enhance effectiveness.

The main observation element is the Russian radar called SKVP ('Airspace Control System').

The SKVP radar detects drones at a distance of up to 20 km in the S-band. Its effectiveness is complicated by unusually small sizes, a lack of moving parts, and low thermal visibility, making it difficult to locate the stations even with 'indirect' signs.

As a result, the successful implementation of anti-drone radars can greatly limit the reconnaissance capabilities of Ukrainian systems aimed at defeating the enemy. This could make Ukrainian systems less effective. Experts advise looking for ways to detect and neutralize the countermeasures radars, as there is currently no universal solution to this problem, and to apply various technical and tactical approaches for successfully countering this threat.
